Where did the Vision for The Refuge Retreat & Conference Center begin?
We were invited by our Children’s Ministry Director, Emily to attend a marriage retreat in 1999. At this time, we had been married for 10 years. We felt we had a good marriage, but loved the idea of fellowship with other couples.
The concept of the Five Love Languages opened our eyes to the reasons that we didn’t communicate our love to one another effectively. We were truly changed that weekend. Not only with the communication teaching, but also by the relationships we formed with other Christian couples. Several of those couples became mentors in our lives, our marriage and our walk with the Lord blessed by their experience and prayer support!!
Needless to say….a “Marriage Retreat” for us became a passion ~ to continue to strengthen our own marriage, and share that precious experience with other couples.  We are so thankful for Emily’s willingness to see us with “His eyes”.  She believed in our potential and encouraged us to grow stronger in our marriage as well as in our leadership skills.
